Abstract(s)
O desenvolvimento moral tem sido um tema
dominante de pesquisa no domínio psicológico e
educacional.
avaliação do desenvolvimento do raciocínio moral,
embora mais. simples que a metodologia de Kohlberg. Actualmente, o DIT é o teste mais utilizado na
avaliação do juízo moral dos sujeitos. O objectivo
central deste estudo foi experimentar uma tradução
Portuguesa do DIT numa amostra transversal
constituída por 109 crianças do 8P ano de
escolaridade, 69 jovens do 11: ano, 123 estudantes
universitários, 49 adultos diplomados (juristas e
professores de Filosofia), e 7 trabalhadores
indiferenciados. Os scores obtidos no DIT pelos
nossos sujeitos foram comparados com os
apresentados em outros estudos. Os resultados
mostram que os dados Portugueses são consistentes
com os dados normativos reportados por Rest. Isto
significa que a nossa tradução do DIT pode ser
usada, com alguma cautela, na investigação moral
Portuguesa.
ABSTRACT: Moral development has been a continuous topic of research in psychological and educational domains. Kohlberg’s moral interview involving the production of justifications is recognized to be far too complex since it makes fine distinctions between content and structure. Rest’s Defining Issues Test (DIT), which involves the evaluation of different ways of stating the important issues of a moral dilemma, is recognized to be a reliable and valid assessment of moral judgement development. At the present time, the DIT is surely the most used developmental test to assess moral reasoning. The main goal of this study was to experiment a DIT’s Portuguese translation in a cross-sectional sample consisting of junior high school (n=109), senior high school (n = 69), college (n = 123) and graduate students (n=49). Our sample also included adults from different cultural backgrounds so as to disentangle age and formal education influences on principled moral reasoning. Subject’s scores were submitted to some intrinsic analyses and compared with those presented in other studies. Results show that Portuguese data are consistent with normative data reported by Rest. That is, this study shows that our DIT’s Portuguese translation can be used in Portuguese moral research.
