Abstract(s)
This study is part of a research project “POLIS - Psychological adjustment in the Armed Forces and the Portuguese Security Forces: Vulnerabilities and Resources”. The focus of this dissertation was to understand to what extent low Job Satisfaction and low Subjective Well-Being can be predictors of the occurrence of Burnout in our sample. In addition, we tried to understand whether the manifestation of these variables and some of the sociodemographic, professional and health characteristics of our sample also have this predictive effect. The levels of Burnout found were reduced, while for the positive dimensions of Subjective Well-Being and some dimensions of Job Satisfaction, the opposite was verified. Using multiple linear regression, it was realized that in fact both Job Satisfaction and Subjective Well-Being can predict Burnout, the same happened for some sociodemographic, professional and health variables. In general terms, low Job Satisfaction is the variable that best explains the occurrence of Burnout.
