Abstract(s)
É conhecida, ainda que muito pouco discutida na
literatura, a associação entre perturbações do comportamento
alimentar, nomeadamente a Anorexia e a Bulimia
Nervosas, e problemáticas do foro depressivo.
Neste artigo procede-se a uma revisão da bibliografia
existente sobre a relação entre aquelas perturbações
alimentares e a depressão. São apresentados diversos
dados relativos a esta associação e discutidas as diversas
hipóteses explicativas existentes nesta área. Particular
atenção é dada à hipótese que enquadra a Anorexia
e a Bulimia Nervosas no âmbito das patologias aditivas,
donde os fenómenos depressivos decorreriam de
uma problemática de dependência subjacente.
The relationship between eating disorders, like Anorexia and Bulimia, and depression are known, although not much discussed in the literature. This article presents a review of the literature concerning the relationship between those two eating disorders and depressive symptoms. The available information and the different explanative hypotheses concerning this subject are discussed. Particular attention is given to the addictive hypothesis, according to which Anorexia and Bulimia are considered the reflection of a dependency problem that is also the cause of depression.
