Abstract(s)
objectivo a dimensionalidade e qualidades psicométricas desta versão específica do instrumento,
ABSTRACT: The Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale (FNE) was developed to evaluate the preoccupation about being negatively evaluated by others in social contexts. The use of its brief version consisting of 8 items assessed directly seems advantageous for construct validity. Even so, some of its items may be referring to a general fear of evaluation and not to a specific of this evaluation being negative, thus supporting the need for their adaptation and specification. The present work intended to study the factor structure and psychometric properties of the Specific Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation - Straightforward in a sample of 518 Portuguese adolescents, aged between 15 and 18. Results showed an acceptable fit for the one-factor measurement model for this instrument. It also achieved excellent internal consistency and an adequate convergent validity with measures of anxiety and avoidance in social situations. The instrument has thus showed good psychometric properties in a sample of adolescents, making it useful for the psychological assessment of fear of negative evaluation within this life stage, either for research or clinical purposes.
