Function Index, o International Index of Erectile Function adaptados e itens do Perceived
In 2020, the world was devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic that forced lockdown and social isolation in several countries, including Portugal. The aim of this study is to evaluate changes in sexual intercourse and relationship quality in couples as well as the correlation between them during lockdown. Participants completed a questionnaire that included questions about sex life, the Sexual Distress Scale-Revisited, the Female Sexual Function Index and the International Index of Erectile Function adapted to a visual analogue scale for changes during lockdown. The sample (N = 437) consisted of couples in romantic relationships. The results show that sexual function, relationship quality and frequency of some sexual behaviours increased significantly, in both men and women. Changes in relationship quality and sexual function were positively correlated. In women, changes in the frequency of sexual intercourse and sexual desire were positively correlated with changes in the quality of the relationship. In addition, changes in frequency and desire for masturbation, watching pornography and cybersex were negatively correlated with changes in the quality of intercourse in women. In men, changes in the frequency of masturbation and watching pornography correlated positively with changes in frequency of conflict with partners, and changes in frequency of cybersex were negatively correlated with changes in relationship quality. This study sought to contribute to the body of knowledge regarding the effects of lockdown in couples
