Abstract(s)
This paper describes the paradigm in which the mere-exposition effect has been obtained, that is, the effect of a previous presentation of a stimulus in its evaluation. This effect is one of the most robust effects in psychology. The original account of the effect offered by Zajonc (1968) has attracted a great deal of interest and debate and still today new alternative explanations are often proposed. The paradigm is presented in its technical features, characterizing the general contexts in which it has been obtained, identifying its main moderators and rival theoretical accounts.
