Validade convergente
ABSTRACT: Introduction: Acute grief arises when a person becomes aware that he/she has lost someone or something important in his/her life (Shear, 2015). It is due to the complexity of this process that its assessment and study becomes relevant, so that a better therapeutic intervention can be conducted. This article aims to adapt the Texas Revised Grief Inventory (TRIG) to the Portuguese population and assess its psychometric properties. Method: Adaptation: following Beaton and collaborators (2000) guidelines. Sample: 440 participants. Mean age was 43.16. Confirmatory factor analysis: two models were tested, a three-factor model (past feelings, present feelings, and disbelief) and a two-factor model (past feelings and present feelings). Invariance between Multigroups: the configural, the metric, the scalar and the residual were tested. Convergent and discriminant validity: was tested between the TRIG (and subscales) with the PG-13, and with the BDI II, respectively. Results: Confirmatory Factor Analysis: The model that showed the best results was the twofactor model, showing a fit within the acceptable limit. Invariance between Multigroups: it was concluded that there is invariance between genders. Internal Consistency: presented significant results, in the total TRIG as well as in its subscales. Convergent Validity: moderate positive and significant correlation. Discriminant validity: low and positive correlation. Conclusion: The TRIG – Portuguese Version showed good psychometric results, proving to be valid and reliable for the Portuguese population. It is suggested that the TRIG – Portuguese Version be tested in the future with specific samples.
