Abstract(s)
A recolha
sociodemográfico e cinco medidas quantitativas (1) The perceptions of Dating Infidelity
Scale; (2) Index of Sexual Satisfaction; (3) Perceived Relationship Quality Components
Inventory; (4) Escala de Intimidade Diferenciada; e o (5) The Adult Attachment Scale–R.
ABSTRACT: With the intention of contributing to the national literature gap existent regarding the perception of infidelity, on a comparative study according to sexual orientation, the present research aimed to explore the following factors the influence on the perceptions of infidelity both on LGB and heterossexuals individuals of portuguese nationality that were on a, minimum 6 moths, romantic relationship with ages ranging from 20 to 60 years old.The sample was constituted by a total of 500 individuals, of which 411 were of heterosexual orientation with ages from 20 to 60 ( M= 33.62 ; DP= 10.907) and 89 with LGB sexual identity from 21 to 45 years old ( M= 28.18 ; DP= 4.807). The data was collected via online with the use of six tools: a socio-demographic questionnaire and five quantitative measures (1) The Perceptions of Dating Infidelity scale; (2) Index of Sexual Satisfaction; (3) Perceived Relationship Quality Components Inventory; (4) A Scale of Differentiated Intimacy and (5) The Adult Attachment Style-R. Results shows that heterossexual population perceives more behaviours of infidelity acts compared with the LGB population. It can be highlighted that the amount of times a person had experienced being cheated prior to their current relationship and the self differentiation can be seen as the main predictors regarding the perception of infidelity on both communities.
