ABSTRACT: The main purpose of this investigation was to analyze the impact of factors such as: Controlability, Normality and type of crime; in what counterfactual though generation by the test subjects is concerned, and also in relation to the feelings of victims, and guilt attributions about the behavior of a victim and the behavior an attacker. Eight subject groups were created and to each was given one of eight created scenarios that differed between themselves in: controllable situation vs. uncontrollable situation, normal situation vs. exceptional situations and the crime of insult vs. the crime of physical aggression. The results showed that these three factors do have an impact over the variables mentioned above, although its relevance tend to differ in relation to the specificity of the dependent variable in question regarding which one of the three factors that would apply to it. We noted however that in what victim focused dependent variables are concerned, controllability assumed a more relevant role in what concerns statistical significant values between groups.
