| dc.description.abstract | A absorção-traço representa uma tendência para a suscetibilidade a determinado tipo de Estados Alterados de Consciência (ASC). Os ASC caracterizam-se como desvios marcados da experiência vígil habitual. A literatura evidencia a ocorrência destes estados no contexto da atividade sexual. Investigações anteriores verificaram que a resposta sexual e a absorção-traço são preditores independentes da ocorrência de ASC gerados pelo sexo. O primeiro objetivo desta dissertação foi o da replicação destes resultados. A fase de resolução, pelas suas características, aparenta assemelhar-se à forma como se manifestam os estados absortos ou ASC. Desta forma, um segundo objetivo desta dissertação foi o de verificar se também a intensidade da fase de resolução se associa à intensidade da resposta sexual e à absorção-traço. Este estudo contou com uma amostra de 328 participantes (189 mulheres e 139 homens). A absorção-traço foi medida através da Modified Tellegen Absorption Scale (MODTAS). Os ASC foram medidos através de seis sub-escalas da Altered States of Consciousness Rating Scale (OAV). Foram ainda recolhidos dados referentes à resposta sexual (excitação, desejo e satisfação) e orgasmo. Adicionalmente, foi utilizado um questionário sobre a fase de resolução. Os resultados desta dissertação mostraram que a absorção-traço e a resposta sexual foram preditores da ocorrência de ASC gerados pela atividade sexual, para mulheres e para homens. A intensidade da fase de resolução foi independentemente predita pela resposta sexual, para mulheres e para homens. A absorção-traço foi também preditor independente da intensidade da fase de resolução, para as mulheres. Implicações e sugestões para estudos futuros são discutidas. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Trait absorption represents a tendency for being susceptible to a certain type of Altered States of Consciousness (ASC). ASC are characterized as marked deviations from the usual waking consciousness. Literature shows the occurrence of these states in the context of sexual activity. Previous research showed that sexual responsiveness and the trait of absorption are independent predictors of the occurrence of ASC in sex. The first aim of this dissertation was to replicate these results. The resolution phase, by its characteristics, seems to be similar to the way absorbed states or ASC manifest. A second aim of this dissertation was to observe the association between the intensity of the resolution phase and sexual responsiveness and the trait of absorption. The sample in this study consisted of 328 participants (189 women and 139 men). Trait absorption was measured by the Modified Tellegen Absorption Scale (MODTAS). ASC were measured by six sub-scales of the Altered States of Consciousness Rating Scale (OAV). Data regarding sexual responsiveness (desire, arousal and satisfaction) and orgasm was also collected. Additionally, a questionnaire regarding the resolution phase was employed. Our results show that the trait of absorption and sexual responsiveness were independent predictors of ASC in sex, for both women and men. The intensity of the phase of resolution was independently predicted by sexual responsiveness, for both sexes. The trait of absorption was also an independent predictor of the intensity of the phase of resolution, only for women. Implications and suggestions for future research are discussed. | pt_PT |
