Neste artigo refletimos sobre os mais recentes desenvolvimentos da psicologia forense em Portugal,
numa das mais importantes áreas de interface entre a psicologia e o sistema de justiça – a avaliação
psicológica forense e o contributo da psicologia para a tomada de decisão judicial. Ao mesmo tempo
que se faz um levantamento dos principais contributos do trabalho de Carla Machado para esta área,
são apontados caminhos a percorrer na consolidação da relação entre a psicologia e o direito.
ABSTRACT: This article reflects on the latest developments of Forensic Psychology in Portugal, particularly in one of the most important areas of interface between psychology and the justice system – the forensic psychological assessment and the contribution of psychology to judicial decision making. While highlighting the major contributions of Carla Machado to the development of this area, we point out paths to achieve the consolidation of the relationship between psychology and law.
