Abstract(s)
Apresentam-se os resultados relativos a aplicação
da versão portuguesa do Parenting Stress Index
(Abidin, 1983) a quatro grupos de sujeitos constituidos
por pais de crianças com Problemática Emocional
(n=15), com Fibrose Quística (n=i4), com Doença Celíaca
(n=13) e Sem Problemas Físicos ou Psicológicos
algumas variáveis de um modo mais rigoroso;
ABSTRACT: This article presents the results of the application of the portuguese version of the Parenting Stress Index (Abidin, 1983) to four groups of parents of children with different characteristics: Emotional Problematic (n=l5), Cystic Fibrosis (n=14), Celiac Disease (n=13), and Without Physical or Psychological Problems (n=15). The author pretends identifi: (1) if the answers of chronic disease children’s parents will be different from the answers of healthy children’s parents in the same way as observed in a previous study (Santos and Lara, in press), as the present study introduced a more rigorous control of some variables; (2) what kind of answers are given by parents of Emotional Problematic children and if these answers will be different from the one’s given by other groups. The results confirm that the parents of Celiac Disease children present a greater number of stress areas than the Cystic Fibrosis parents, when compared with the group Without Problems. The Emotional Problematic group differenciated greatly from Without Problems and Cystic Fibrosis groups (in less stress areas in the last one), however the differences related with Celiac Disease group are of a lesser extent.
