Abstract(s)
O presente estudo pretende fornecer evidências acerca do funcionamento familiar
Assim, o
ABSTRACT: The present study intends to provide evidence about the adolescent's family functioning (cohesion and flexibility) and the impact on deviant behaviors in the light of Olson's Circumplex Model (2000). It is true that the family is a very important socialization agent and that it plays a central and predictive role in the development of juvenile delinquent behavior (Herman et al., 1997; Ary et al., 1999). Thus, the present study assesses which of the dimensions of the family system has the greatest impact on young people's deviant behaviors, also exploring the mediation of young people's perception of risk and false self perception. In this study, 182 adolescents aged between 15 and 21 participated, and the instruments used were the Family Flexibility and Cohesion Scale (FACES IV) (Olson, 2011), the Deviant Behavior Scale (Sanches & Gouveia- Pereira, 2013), the adapted Risk Perception Scale (Benthin et al., 1993) and the False Self Perception Scale (Weir & Jose, 2010). The results revealed that family cohesion has a greater impact on juvenile deviance than flexibility, with young people's perception of risk mediating the relationship between the family system and deviance. The false self perception variable did not prove to be a mediator of this relationship. The limitations of the presente investigation are discussed.
