Tendo em conta que a realização do teste para o VIH é um procedimento médico de diagnóstico indutor de stress emocional, o autor discute o carácter indispensável do aconselhamento pré-teste para a promoção do bem-estar psicológico, para a Prevenção da infecção pelo VIH e para assegurar a qualidade dos cuidados de saúde.
