O Partido Socialista e o Partido Social Democrata.
do Estado nesta área.
ABSTRACT: Do Socialists (PS) and Liberal Democratic and Reformist Party (PSD), differ in their attitudes toward state’s intervention in societal organization? The answer to this question was the aim of the present research. This involved 120 subjects: 30 basis militants (60 on total) and 30 parliamentary deputies (60 on total) from each one of the two most expressive portuguese political parties. As instrument, for the measurement of attitudes, a type of Likert’s scale was specifically conceived, mainly as a product of the parties’ programs analysis: APOLE (political attitudes toward state’s intervention), which revealed a very acceptable reliability as measured by a high Cronbach’s Alpha, and a considerable discriminant power. The Anova’s results revealed an effective disagreement between socialists and liberais, namely on economic policy aspects. The Socialist Party appear to be associated to «more state» than the Liberal Party, in this political area.
