ansiedade, a depressão e o stresse e a ideação suicida e o envolvimento nestes comportamentos.
ABSTRACT: The suicidal ideation and self-injurious behavior represent a highly relevant phenomenon with serious implications in the adolescence. This study aims to analyse the impact that the family system and social support have in suicidal ideation and in self-injurious behavior among adolescents, as well as to explore the relationship between anxiety, depression and stress and suicidal ideation and the mentioned self-injurious behaviour. This work also aims to comprehend the relationship between suicidal ideation and self-injurious behavior. In this study participated 264 adolescents with ages between 15 and 20 years old, students of a school in Lisbon, to whom the following instruments were applied: Flexibility and Familiar Cohesion Evaluation Scale (FACES IV) (Olson, 2011), Social Support Appraisals (SSA) (Antunes & Fontaine, 2005), Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scales (DASS-21) (Pais-Ribeiro, Honrado & Leal, 2004), Inventory of Self-injurious Behaviors (Duarte, Gouveia-Pereira & Sampaio, 2017) and Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire (Ferreira & Castela, 1999). The analysis of the results showed that the more balanced the family system of the adolescents, and the better social support from family, the less suicidal ideation and self-injurious behavior they show. In what concerns the influence that the social support from friends represent, this work shows that the risk of suicidal ideation is decreased, however, it was not possible to establish a relationship to self-injurious behavior. It was also possible to verify that individual characteristics are directly related to suicidal ideation and self-injurious behavior, showing that adolescents who present high levels of anxiety, depression and stress, are prone to suicidal ideation and to the development of self-injurious behavior. Furthermore, it was also possible to establish a relationship between suicidal ideation and self-injurious behavior. .
