Abstract(s)
A amostra conta
ABSTRACT: According to the literature on the subject of discrimination, there is still discriminatory behavior on the part of employers and recruiters in the organizational environment. Several countries have for several years reinforced the importance of investigating discrimination in the workplace and in the recruitment and selection process, with the aim of finding strategies to combat this type of behavior. In this way, the present study aims to understand whether currently in Portugal discrimination in the selection process is still recurrent based on whether or not the candidate's image is revealed or even if there are favors at the time of decision making when considering the first name and last name as relevant factors to the same effect in both back office and front office roles. The sample has 130 participants. The results of the present investigation suggest that both in a back office role and in a front office role, having a photograph on the resume ends up having a more positive impact on the selection process, especially when it comes to front office roles, ultimately favoring these same candidates who include photo. As for the possible favoring of candidates with names considered to be of a higher social class, there were no advantages or disadvantages for their selection process in any of the types of positions for which they are applying, and having or not having a photograph on the CV reveals to be the most important factor.
