Abstract(s)
Resultados:A análise fatorial exploratória
Objectives: The present study had as it's main objective the evaluation of the psychometric qualities for the adaptation of the DDI scale (DDI; Distress Disclosure Index- Kahn & Hessling, 2001) and the Opener Scale (Miller, et al. (1983)) for the Portuguese sample applied to cancer patients. Method: This study is observational, cross-sectional and descriptive. The sample consisted of 228 participants diagnosed with cancer, 191 women and 31 men, the mean age was 53.09 (SD = 15.00). The following scales were used: the Emotional Distress Inventory (DDI); Opener Scale and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). Results: The exploratory factor analysis reports a two-factor structure for DDI scale that explains 61.232% of the variance. This structure, constituted by the sub-scales of Emotional Expression and Emotional Suppression, as confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis, through good adjustment indexes ( (36)= 70.893; NFI = 0.949; CFI = 0.980; GFI = 0.954; RMSEA = 0.05 [0,026; 0,072]) . Regarding the Opener Scale (emotional expression with someone significant), it reports a unifactorial structure that explains 66% of the variance. This structure is confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis, through good adjustment indexes ( (4)= 5.379; NFI = 0.991; CFI = 0.997; GFI = 0.955; RMSEA = 0.039 [0,000; 0,114] ). Discussion: The results of this study constitute an important contribution to the adaptation of the DDI and the Opener Scale in the Portuguese population, as well as the development of practical interventions for its use.
