Abstract(s)
This study aimed to explore the correlations between the mindfulness trait and spiritual well-being and their respective contribution to overall health and happiness in the portuguese population. Data from three hundred and fifty-six adults were collected through face-to-face questionnaires using Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale to assess the mindfulness trait, Spiritual Health and Life-Orientation Measure to assess spiritual well-being, and questions related to the perception of general health, overall quality of life and happiness. Data were analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple linear regressions. The results revealed that the mindfulness trait correlates significantly with the variables spiritual well-being, dissonance of spiritual well-being, health, quality of life and happiness. Spiritual well-being is also significantly related to the variables health and happiness. Personal domain of spiritual well-being revealed to be the most significant predictor of the mindfulness trait. Mindfulness and spirituality are independent constructs.
