Abstract(s)
A alexitimia pareceu
correlacionar-se negativamente com o nível de
escolaridade.
ABSTRACT: Using the Toronto Alexithymia Scale - TAS-20 (Taylor, Bagby & Parker, 1992) a study was carried out to examine the distribution of alexithymia in a population of 631 chronic patients. About 23,4% of the subjects presented high values of alexithymia. Alexithymia seemed to be correlated, in a negative way, with the educational level. Values of alexithymia were also compared to a sample of 100 patients of Health Centers and a significant difference was obtained: chronic patients presented much higher values of alexithymia than the patients of health centers. This study discuss alexithymia in health psychology field
