Abstract(s)
principal instrumento utilizado na recolha dos dados foi o Client Change Interview (CCI;
ABSTRACT: Aim: The aim of this study is to approach the processes of change in existential psychotherapy, under the patient's perception, as well as adding data to existing literature in this area, seeking to contribute to the investigation of the change process in Portugal, where this issue is still not very developed. Method: Conduction of a deep analysis of the characteristics of the participant in this study, who attended forty-eight weekly sessions of existential basis of psychotherapy. The main instrument used to collect data was the Client Change Interview (CCI;. Elliott et al, 2001), adapted for the Portuguese population as Customer Psychotherapeutic Change Interview by Sales et al. (2007). This instrument consists of an in-depth qualitative interview, which approaches the changes that the patient recorded since the beginning of the therapy. The data were analyzed according to the phenomenological method of Giorgi (2009). Results: There were several factors promoting change, related to the participant's belief in the therapeutic process, the perception of therapy, the space / therapeutic relationship and the effects of the therapist's intervention. The importance of the therapeutic process in increasing psychological well-being of the participant is notorious. Stress, fatigue, tension and anxiety relief; increase of tolerance and improvement in self-esteem are aspects that the participant claims to have acquired during the therapeutic process that enabled many of the therapeutic changes referred to by the participant. Conclusions: Although the inquiries on the process of change in the existential psychotherapy under the patient's perception are not yet very developed, the results which were determined here are in accordance with the consulted studies. In conclusion, with this study, we offer a small input to the scientific community, contributing to the adaptation and improvement of therapeutic interventions.
