Abstract(s)
Discutem-se as noções de doença(s) e sua prevenção,
saúde e sua promoção e a complementariedade
destes conceitos. Partindo de uma visão holística dos
indivíduos, propõe-se um programa de intervenção visando
o ajustamento de indivíduos com uma doença
crónica específica: a epilepsia do lobo temporal. O
programa compreende três níveis, cada um com duas
vertentes (componentes específicas e não específicas
da doença): a) nível físico – ter uma doença vs ter saúde;
b) nível psicológico – sentir-se doente vs sentir-se
saudável; c) nível social – comportar-se como doente
vs comportar-se como saudável. A vertente relacionada
com a doença é trabalhada com base no modelo de
auto-regulação do comportamento de doença de Leventhal
e a vertente relacionada com a saúde com base
no modelo revisto de crenças da saúde.
ABSTRACT: The concepts disease(s), disease prevention, health and health promotion are discussed, as well as the complementarity between them. Based on an holistic view of the individuals, an intervention program aiming at the adjustment of individuals with a specific chronic disease – temporal lobe epilepsy – is proposed. The program encompasses three levels, each one with two divisions (specific and non-specific disease components): a) physical level – having a disease vs being healthy; b) psychological level – being ill vs feeling healthy; c) social level – sick role behaviour vs behaving as healthy. The aspects related with the disease are analysed based on the Leventhal’s Self Regulation Model of Illness; the aspects related with health are analysed based on the Revised Health Belief Model.
