| dc.description.abstract | Resumo: Entre as diversas explicaçÔes sobre o crime e a delinquĂȘncia a famĂlia ocupa um lugar de eleição. Para alĂ©m da literatura demonstrar que a famĂlia assume um papel crucial, existem outros autores que nos dĂŁo conhecimento da Teoria Geral do Crime, que pretende explicar que o autocontrolo Ă© a variĂĄvel central na delinquĂȘncia e no comportamento criminal em geral. Ainda, outros investigadores evidenciam tambĂ©m que a falta de aprendizagem de um repertĂłrio emocional adequado, nomeadamente a inteligĂȘncia emocional, pode estar associada Ă origem do comportamento criminal. Assim, este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar se existem diferenças ao nĂvel do funcionamento familiar (rĂĄcio total, coesĂŁo, flexibilidade e comunicação), do autocontrolo e da inteligĂȘncia emocional em função de trĂȘs crimes: abuso sexual, violĂȘncia conjugal e homicĂdio. Participaram 92 sujeitos, reclusos, do sexo masculino, com idades compreendidas entre os 20 e os 73 anos de idade. Os resultados mostram que os participantes, independentemente do tipo de crime, tĂȘm uma perceção semelhante sobre o funcionamento familiar, ou seja, nĂŁo existem diferenças ao nĂvel da coesĂŁo e da flexibilidade. Contudo, no que se refere Ă comunicação na famĂlia, os abusadores sexuais apresentam indicadores comunicativos inferiores. Relativamente Ă expressĂŁo emocional e Ă capacidade para lidar com as emoçÔes tambĂ©m foram os abusadores sexuais que apresentaram maiores dĂ©fices emocionais. Foram igualmente os abusadores sexuais que apresentaram maiores nĂveis de autocontrolo. LimitaçÔes e implicaçÔes prĂĄticas e teĂłricas deste estudo sĂŁo discutidas com base na literatura. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Abstract: Amongst the various explanations for a delinquent career, the family occupies a place of choice. Despite literature indicating to us that the family plays a crucial role, there are other authors, who show us The General Theory of crime, that claims to explain that self-control is a central variable in delinquent behavior. In addition, other researchers show that the failure to learn an adequate emotional repertoire, namely emotional intelligence, can, sometimes, be associated with the origin of delinquent behaviour. The objective of this work is to analyse the relationship between the functioning of the family (total ratio, cohesion, flexibility and comunication), the self-control and emotional intelligence in subjects who have been condemned for crimes of sexual abuse, domestic violence and homicide. 92 male inmate subjects, aged between 20 and 73 participated. By means of the results, we established that the subjects have a similar perception as to how their families are organised, except in communication, where the sexual abusers showed inferior communication indicators. At the level of emotional expression and the capacity to deal with emotions, significant differences were also found, with the sexual abusers showing greater emotional deficits. With self-control, it was likewise the sexual abusers who showed the highest levels of self-control. Limitations and practical and theoretical implications of this study are discussed based on literature. | pt_PT |
