Abstract(s)
A auto-lesão não-suicida (ALNS) é a lesão deliberada sem intencionalidade suicida
subjacente.
Dentro do impacto intrapessoal
ABSTRACT: Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) can be defined as deliberate injury without underlying suicidal intent. The practice of NSSI is maintained due to the intrapersonal and interpersonal functions it encompasses. However, despite the practice of NSSI being increasingly explored, the topic of the physical marks left by it is substantially less investigated, with a scarcity of literature. Bearing that in mind, the present study explored - through a qualitative method, the physical marks, that is, any and all visible marks, resulting from NSSI, and how they impacted the intrapersonal and interpersonal experiences of the participants. The study included a semi-directive interview applied to a total of 13 participants, along with a sociodemographic questionnaire. Through the present study it was possible to obtain a total of 524 UR. Regarding the intrapersonal impact, the impact of the physical marks on self-esteem stood out, as well as the attribution of new meanings to the physical marks. Concerning the interpersonal impact, it was possible to comprehend that the participants mostly experienced negative reactions regarding their physical marks, allowing the understanding of their stigmatizing experience, and the particular impact of this experience on female individuals.
