Abstract(s)
reduzida do Perceived Relationship Quality Component Inventory, a Escala
homens).
Consensual non-monogamies refer to forms of relationship in which one or both members of the couple have extra-dyadic sexual relations with the consent of both. The present study examined associations between consensual non-monogamies, relationship quality, jealousy, and sexual functioning. A total of 390 heterosexual individuals participated (275 women, 115 men), with a sub-sample having had sexual intercourse in the last four weeks (206 women, 84 men). The short version of the Perceived Relationship Quality Component Inventory, the Multidimensional Jealousy Scale, the Consensual Nonmonogamy Scale, questions about desire and past and present history of consensual non-monogamy, the Female Sexual Functioning Index, and the International Index of Erectile Functioning, were used. It was found that in women, but not in men, more positive attitudes toward consensual non-monogamy correlated with lower perceived quality of the love relationship. More positive attitudes toward consensual monogamies did not correlate with either jealousy or sexual functioning for either men or women. It was found that 17% of men report fantasizing about having a relationship in which the female partner has sex with other men, and 14% report desiring such relationship. As for women, 4% report fantasizing about relationships in which their partner has sex with other women, and 3% report desiring such relationship. These gender differences are significant. However, women and men do not differ in the proportion in which they report having already had (4% of women and 7% of men) or currently having relationships with these characteristics (3% of women and 4% of men).
