Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: Research has devoted increasing attention to the Theory of Attachment in adults, underlining the importance of a conceptual bridge between childhood experiences and the way we approach interpersonal relationships, lifelong, integrating, continuously, new experiences. Although the research dedicated to attachment is profuse in the context of couple relationships, the importance of early maladaptive schemas is not always recognized. In order to bridge the previous studies, this research aims to establish the relation between the domains of early maladaptive schemas and attachment patterns in interpersonal relationships, focusing on intra-individual characteristics on behavior in the context of dyadic interaction couple. The sample comprises a total 100 heterosexual couples, aged between 20 and 70 years old, who were administered, in person, seven instruments, the Psychopathological Symptom Inventory, the New Multidimensional Depression Assessment Scale, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, the Beck Depression Inventory, the Adult Attachment Scale-R, the Young Schema Questionnaire and the Inventory of Interpersonal Problems. Based on the results, it is concluded that the attachment patterns are associated, noting an intra-couple congruence. According to attachment patterns, early maladaptive schemes differences were observed, suggesting the close relationship between insecure attachment and schemes, since the way they are formed, even as manifest and disrupt. Individuals with a fearful pattern of attachment also showed greater interpersonal difficulties and a greater propensity for developing of psychopathological symptoms.
