Abstract(s)
As validades convergente e discriminante do construto
This study was conducted with the objective of developing a valid version of the Langer Minfulness Scale (LMS: Pirson et al., 2012), adapted for the portuguese population. The sample, selected by convenience, comprised 205 subjets with ages ranging from 19 to 69 years. The analysis of the psychometric properties of the translated instrument was performed through the study of sensitivity, factor structure and reliability. The observed values for the adjustment of the original model were not considered acceptable, namely the local adjustment of two itens (inadequate factor weights), which led to the testing of an alternate model that revealed adequate adjustment values. The convergent and discriminant validity of the construct were assessed through correlations with the scales Five Facets Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ: Gregório, & Gouveia, 2011), Inventário de Metacognição em Contexto de Trabalho (MAI: Bártolo-Ribeiro, & Gomes, 2017) e Big Five Inventory (BFI: Bártolo-Ribeiro e Aguiar, 2008). The correlations between LMS and FFMQ did not show evidence of convergent validity, neither did the correlation values between LMS and MAI show evidence of discriminant validity. As for the BFI, four of the personality traits considered in the model were shown to contribute to the discriminant validity of the LMS. Criterion related validity was analysed through correlating LMS scores with the ones of a question that was intended to assess up to which extent did the participants consider that they felt the need to take time off (from work), though the results did not contribute to the achievement of this goal.
