Abstract(s)
instrumentos: Inventário do Crescimento Pós-Traumático Expandido (PTGI-X) e Escala
apresenta uma correlação significativa com as dimensões Novas Possibilidades (r= 0,127;
crescimento pós-traumático no luto.
ABSTRACT: Introduction: After the loss of a loved one, people can experience transformative psychological changes, namely post-traumatic growth. This process has been widely studied, but there is still much uncertainty about the role that the relational factor plays in this process. Objective: To analyse the impact that the quality of the relationship between the loved one and the bereaved has on the development of post-traumatic growth in bereavement. Method: The sample consisted of 269 adult individuals who had lost a loved one in the last 5 years. The following instruments were applied using Qualtrics: Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory Expanded (PTGI-X) and the Quality of the Relationship between Carer and Patient Scale (EQR). Results: The quality of the relationship based on closeness proved to be significantly correlated with post-traumatic growth (r= 0.192; p<0.01) in all its dimensions, except for Spiritual and Existential Changes. A relationship of conflict only showed a significant correlation with the dimensions New Possibilities (r= 0.127; p<0.05), Personal Strength (r= 0.143; p<0.05) and Appreciation of Life (r= 0.128; p<0.05). It was also found that the quality of the close relationship explained 3,3% of post-traumatic growth variance. Conclusion: The study has contributed to research into bereavement, namely so that health professionals consider the quality of the relationship before the death, during anticipatory grief in order to occur a better adjustment to loss.
