Abstract(s)
A presente investigação analisa as mudanças na vida de pessoas com experiência de semabrigo,
após estarem há mais de um ano inseridas no projecto Housing First. Estas mudanças
focam-se na integração na comunidade e na existência de sentimento de pertença.
Neste estudo utilizou-se um metódo qualitativo, tendo sido realizadas entrevistas a dez
pessoas com experiência de sem-abrigo. Com estas pretendemos perceber as mudanças
experienciadas pelos entrevistados, depois de terem adquirido uma habitação individualizada.
Os resultados deste estudo revelam que a obtenção de uma casa possibilita as pessoas a
pensarem num futuro diferente e deste modo melhorar diversas áreas da sua vida. Das mudanças
identificadas percepcionamos, a capacidade de realizar rotinas, controlar os consumos de
substâncias e a existência de notáveis melhorias a nível da saúde. Para além disto, o ter uma casa
permite que consigam alargar a sua rede social e ter uma melhor integração na comunidade.
Com o programa Housing First, o sentir-se parte da comunidade é algo que parece ser
concretizável.
ABSTRACT: With this thesis it was intended to demonstrate the existence of changes in the long-term homeless people, after acessing the Housing First program. These changes were related to integration in the community and with the feeling of belonging. In this study a qualitative method was used, through interviews to ten people who experienced homelessness. With these interviews were probing to understand the extent of changes experienced by interviewed, after integrated in an individualized housing solution. The results of this study disclose that the integration in the Housing First program and the fact that this provides housing and opportunity to think in the future differently, and make improvements at different levels of their lives. It is possible to number some, such as, the capacity to carry through routines, to control substance abuse and the existence of remarkable improvements in their health. Moreover, having a house allows them to increase their social network and improve their community integration. With the program Housing First, feeling part of the community is possible.
