Comportamentos extra-diádicos nas relações de namoro : Diferenças de sexo na prevalência e correlatos

| dc.description.abstract | O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar as diferenças de sexo nas taxas de prevalência e nos correlatos dos comportamentos extra-diádicos (CED) offline e online, durante o namoro. A amostra foi constituída por 494 participantes (156 homens e 338 mulheres) com uma idade média de 23.38 anos (DP=3.41). O protocolo de avaliação incluíu os seguintes instrumentos de auto-resposta: Inventário de Comportamentos Extra-Diádicos e Medida Global da Satisfação Relacional e Medida Global da Satisfação Sexual. Cerca de 63.5% dos homens e 56.5% das mulheres reportou já se ter envolvido em CED offline e 46.2% dos homens e 39.3% das mulheres já se envolveu em CED online, sendo que esta diferença não foi significativa. Para ambos os sexos, já ter sido infiel a um parceiro e menor satisfação relacional foram preditores importantes do envolvimento em CED offline e online. Para os homens, pertencer à religião Católica e história prévia de infidelidade do pai foram preditores significativos dos CED online. Entre as mulheres, o número de parceiros sexuais nos últimos dois anos associou-se significativamente ao envolvimento extra-diádico offline. Embora homens e mulheres cada vez se aproximem mais no que respeita às taxas de prevalência, os correlatos do envolvimento em CED diferem em função do sexo. Sugestões para investigação futura são apresentadas à luz destes resultados. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT: The purpose of the present study was to assess sex differences in prevalence rates and in correlates of offline and online extra-dyadic behaviors (EDB) during dating. The sample consisted of 494 participants (156 men and 338 women) with a mean age of 23.38 years (SD=3.41). The assessment protocol included the following self-report instruments: Extradyadic Behaviors Inventory and Global Measure of Relationship Satisfaction and Global Measure of Sexual Satisfaction. About 63.5% of men and 56.5% of women reported having already been involved in offline EDB and 46.2% of men and 39.3% of women have already been engaged in online EDB, and this difference was not statistically significant. For both sexs, having been unfaithful to a partner and lower relational satisfaction were important predictors of involvement in offline and online EDB. Among men, belonging to the Catholic religion and prior history of the father’s infidelity were significant predictors of the EDB. Among women, the number of sexual partners in the last two years was significantly related with offline EDB. Although men and women are converging in terms of the rates of prevalence, the correlates of engagement in EDB differ according to sex. Suggestions for future research are presented in view of these findings. | por |
