- Mens sana in corpore sano: Fatores associados ao comportamento de atividade física durante a pandemia da COVID-19 numa amostra da população portuguesaPublication . Oliveira, Carlota Duarte Belo de; Gouveia, Maria João Pinheiro MoraisThe emergence of Covid-19 and the measures aimed at its containment affected individuals' physical activity (PA) habits. Having recognized its benefits and protective effect on health, exploring the factors associated with PA during the pandemic becomes crucial in terms of public health. This study aims to investigate, in a sample of the Portuguese population, with an ecological framework and based on the PAM model, which factors are associated with the various PA patterns during the pandemic, in particular its maintenance, and the main perceived barriers and strategies used to overcome them. A sample of 735 adults completed an online questionnaire between March 21 and April 04 2021, with measures of moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) during the second confinement and pre-pandemic, sociodemographic, related to Covid-19, psychological (e.g., self-efficacy, motivation, intention), social (e.g., dependent child, dog ownership) and environmental factors (e.g., access to equipment and training programs) as well as stressful life events, perceived barriers and implemented strategies. Descriptive statistical analysis, group comparison tests and regression analysis were performed. The variation in MVPA levels was not significant and most participants were successful maintainers. Key factors associated with all dimensions of the ecological model emerged, with variables of psychological nature especially relevant in PA maintenance. Interventions focused on the predictors identified as significant can contribute to maintaining and strengthening PA during the pandemic along with the return to normality.
