the Apes d'Edgar Rice Burroughs (1912).
L'application
SUMMARY: In this article, the authors apply the structural-dynamic method of text analysis, suggested by Bastos (1978) and Bastos and Soczka (1976). to Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel Tarzan of the Apes. The authors present examples of triangulations, recurrences, assimilations, structural action patterns, oppositions and enigmas, which structure from a formal point of view the novel as a whole and which analysis forms the structural pole of the suggested method. The dynamic pole will be the subject of another paper. The authors think that basing the analytic interpretation of the novel on structural analysis, it is possible to obtain a gain of information and to reduce the risk of incertitude in the decoding process. Thus, the application of the structural-dynamic method permits an heuristic gain to psychoanalysis, to anthropology of the symbolic and to semiotics, and demands the scientific integration of these fields and their research methods.
