A obra contém uma poderosa história sobre os traumas e conflitos internos do adolescente, pretendendo-se trazer à luz novos possíveis sentidos da mesma sob a perspectiva de uma leitura psicanalítica, numa abordagem interpretativa que permita a descoberta de novos sentidos na leitura da obra. Pretende-se então abordar o tema da adolescência no que diz respeito à procura e construção identitária e à concomitante procura do lugar do indivíduo no mundo, no confronto entre os conflitos internos vividos e a realidade circundante, ou seja, na relação da personagem principal com o seu ambiente social e familiar.ABSTRACT: The present Dissertation constitutes an applied Psychoanalysis exercise to J. D.´s Salinger masterpiece “The Catcher in the Rye”. This book entails a powerful story about the internal conflicts of an adolescent, and the present analysis seeks to bring to light new possible meanings of the story through a psychoanalytic reading and interpretative approach.
