Abstract(s)
The purpose of this study is to verify if the variables age (third versus fourth age), gender and religion are relationed with Death Anxiety (DA), on the old portuguese adults. So it was tested a Predictor Structural Model of the DA in a sample of old adults. The sample involve 240 subjects, of both genders, not institutionalized, autonomous and functional, with age between 65 - 90 years (M = 72), from Lisbon Metropolitan Area, selected by sampling non probabilistic methods, who was heteroadministrated the Death Anxiety Questionnaire (DAQ), of Conte, Weiner and Plutchic (1982), adapted/validated for the portuguese population by Simões & Neto (1994) and therefore by Barros (1998). Through the test of the Predictor Structural Model of the DA (LISREL8-SIMPLIS) it was verified there are a strong connection of the gender and religion with DA: the old adults belong to gender masculine and with a bigger implication religious showed been more anxious face death theme.
